June 28 We had a continental breakfast at the RV Park office, then got ready to leave. We were going to go east toward Amarillo, IX. I spotted a big semi truck with "Jesus is Lord" in big letters along the side of the truck. We're having hard rain and wind again. The temperature is a cool 58. The rain doesn't last long, just comes and goes. We had lunch in the RV and continued on our way. Got to Texas and had to turn my watch back to central time. We got to the RV Park, had supper, then Dave began to feel sick. Deanna and I wouldn't leave him to go to the hot tub until he began to feel better. Then we all went to the hot tub (Dave just watched), showered and then went back to the RV. Dave was okay by then. |

June 29 Deanna wanted up at 8:00 AM, so I woke her after making the coffee and having my breakfast. It is cloudy and a little windy, but a good day to head for home. We are going home a day early, as we are all pooped. On the way out of Amarillo, we passed the Big Texan Steakhouse and Ranch Motel where I stayed with Barbara on a tour to Palo Dura Canyon about three years ago. We saw the big cross and the leaning tower along the route. We crossed into Oklahoma, then stopped for lunch in the RV. When we got to Tulsa, we stopped at the Waffle House for supper, then went on to Bartlesville. When we got to Deanna and Dave's house and got the RV parked, I packed up all my things and left for home. I got back just before dusk and the yard looked beautiful. Sam did a great job of taking care of it while I was gone. I was really glad to get back home and sleep in my own bed that night. As the old saying goes, "there's no place like home!" |
